Good news: as you might’ve seen me mention at the end of my previous post, I’ve got a new job. I’ve left academia and I’m very pleased to report that I’m now Science Writer at the UK’s i newspaper.
More good news: the Science Fictions newsletter will continue! Same scope, same topics. It just won’t be on Substack, and will be part of the i’s selection of newsletters.
Even more good news: since this is now my job rather than a hobby, I’ll be sending a new Science Fictions post to your email every week - every Thursday, to be precise.
How to subscribe
I really hope you’ll subscribe at the newsletter’s new home. If you do so using THIS LINK, you’ll get a four-month free trial.
The subscription is to the i as a whole - that gives you access not just to Science Fictions, but to the entire (excellent) newspaper, including news, opinion, political updates, several other newsletters, puzzles, and much more.
By the way, four months from now takes it to about a year since this Substack began, at which point my plan was always to turn this into a paid newsletter.
The first i Science Fictions newsletter (i-ence Fictions?) has already come out today, and it’s right here at this link. It’s about last week’s Nature study that claimed “disruptive” scientific innovations are slowing down, and why I found it unconvincing.
Thank you!
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s subscribed to this Substack - especially to those of you who took out a paid subscription (those subscriptions are frozen as of today, so you don’t need to do anything).
Here’s the i subscription link again.
There’s much more Science Fictions to come. See you at the i!
